Ayra Starr thrills Seychelles at Golden Jubilee celebrations

Ayra Starr lights up Seychelles with an electrifying performance as the island nation celebrated its 50th Independence Day anniversary, delivering a hit-filled set that had thousands of fans singing along at Stad Popiler on Monday.

The 24-year-old Mavin Records artiste, dressed in a flowing pink floral gown with a matching flower hair accessory, captivated the audience with some of her biggest songs, including Rhythm & Blues, Beggie Beggie, and her latest single, Tornado.

One of the night’s biggest highlights came during her performance of Tornado, when she invited the crowd to join in the chorus.

She taught fans the lyrics, saying, “Whine like tornado / Whine like tornado / Whine like tornado,” and the audience enthusiastically echoed the chant, creating one of the most memorable moments of the celebration.

Before taking the stage, the singer, born Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, paid a courtesy visit to Seychelles President Patrick Herminie ahead of the Golden Jubilee festivities.

Herminie welcomed the Afrobeats star and expressed appreciation for her participation in the landmark celebration, describing it as “a celebration of Seychelles’ progress, culture, unity, and international friendship.”

Ayra Starr has continued to strengthen her global profile since breaking through with her 2021 hit Bloody Samaritan. Since signing with Mavin Records, she has become one of Afrobeats’ leading stars, earning several awards and nominations for her music.

Her appearance in Seychelles marks another international milestone for Nigerian music as Afrobeats continues to gain prominence on the global stage.

In recent weeks, fellow Nigerian star Tems performed at the inauguration of the Barack Obama Presidential Centre in Chicago, while Rema, Burna Boy, and Davido also appeared at high-profile events connected to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
