President Bola Tinubu has pledged to make security a top priority during his administration, emphasizing that his government will not rest until insecurity is fully eradicated. He made this statement during a visit to the palace of the Shehu of Bornu, Abubakar El-Kanemi, in Maiduguri on Monday.
While acknowledging recent improvements in the fight against insecurity, President Tinubu stressed that much work remains to be done. He promised continued support for survivors of insecurity in the North East and expressed his condolences to families who lost loved ones in the recent bombing in Kaduna.
The President also announced increased benefits and amenities for the armed forces and their families, acknowledging their sacrifices and stating that their well-being is a priority reflected in the 2024 budget. He pledged to ensure their treatment reflects the gratitude of the Nigerian people.
Speaking during the President’s visit, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State affirmed that collaboration between the security agencies and his government has steadily improved. He expressed the state’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, dedicated to combating insecurity throughout Nigeria.
