Kenneth Gyang is currently working on an exciting new movie titled ‘This is Lagos.’
‘This is Lagos’ portrays the captivating journey of Stevo, portrayed brilliantly by Gabriel Afolayan, a young man with an insatiable hunger for superstardom in a city where everyone wears a mask of some kind. This Is Lagos skillfully captures Stevo’s story in a darkly humorous manner.
Gyang, known for his work on “Oloture,” is directing this project. He’s collaborating with Tom Rowlands-Rees and Jide Makinde. This project has been in the making for over 10 years, as Gyang and Rowlands-Rees worked together to turn a short story by Crispin Oduobuk-Mfon Abasi into the compelling narrative we’ll see in “This is Lagos.”
The lead role of Stevo is played by Gabriel Afolayan. The cast also includes well-known actors like Ikechukwu Onunaku, Rahama Sadau, Kate Henshaw, Enyinna Nwigwe, Sani Muazu, David Jones David, Greg Ojefua, Mike Afolarin, Jibrin Homsuk, and Laura Pepple.
Gyang has a personal connection to this project and sees it as his love letter to Lagos. He says, “This is Lagos is my love letter, a personal project. I’ve already completed two films, but this one is my heartfelt ode to Lagos. As someone deeply rooted in the essence of the city, I wanted to capture the true spirit of Lagos…”.
‘This is Lagos’ is set to hit the cinemas in December 2023, promising a mix of humor and drama on the big screen.
