Mavo celebrates his 23rd birthday with a two-track project, ‘HBD’

Mavo, the Nigerian singer, has released a two-track project titled ‘HBD’ to celebrate his 23rd birthday and appreciate fans who have supported his musical journey.

The project features two songs, ‘Happy Birthday’ and ‘Today’. The second track features Kadi, the latest signing to Kilogbede Records Limited, Mavo’s music label.

Announcing the release on Instagram on Sunday, the label described it as a birthday gift to fans who have followed the singer since his early days on SoundCloud.

“Kilogbede Records Limited celebrates Mavo’s birthday with a special two-track release featuring Mavo and KRL’s latest signing, Kadi,” the statement reads.

“A birthday gift to everyone who has supported the journey from his early SoundCloud days up until now.”

The project celebrates Mavo’s new age while recognising the support he has received from his fans. It also introduces Kadi to a wider audience through their collaboration.

What to expect from ‘HBD’

The opening track, ‘Happy Birthday’, runs for a little over three minutes. It features Mavo’s signature melodic sound in a celebratory song dedicated to his birthday.

On the second track, ‘Today’, he teams up with Kadi for a love-themed song. The record centres on the desire to see a romantic interest.

Mavo opens the song with a verse before Kadi joins him. The two artistes echo the desire to meet the woman in question.

Mavo’s rise in Afrobeats

Born Oseremen Marvin Ukanigbe, Mavo gained wider recognition in 2025 following the success of his single ‘Escaladizzy’.

The song helped establish him as one of the emerging voices in Nigeria’s Afrobeats scene.

He has since built a distinct musical identity through his unconventional slang, melodic delivery and street-inspired sound. He describes his style as ‘Burbur music’.

The singer has also worked with established artistes, including Davido, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage and Wande Coal.

Beyond music, Mavo has pursued an independent career through Kilogbede Records. He founded the label to develop his creative vision and nurture emerging talents.
