D’banj, the Nigerian singer, has paid an emotional tribute to his late son, Daniel D3rd, eight years after his death, saying his family has finally found a safe space to heal from the tragedy.
The music star shared the tribute on his X account on Thursday, October 29, 2026, accompanied by photographs capturing cherished moments with his son.
In the heartfelt message, D’banj expressed how much he misses Daniel, whom he fondly described as his family’s “star boy”. He also acknowledged the pain his wife, Lineo Didi Kilgrow, must have endured following their son’s death.
However, the singer noted that the family has now found a safe space to begin healing.
“I miss you, Daniel D3rd, my son, and trust me, I can’t imagine how your mother feels, but we are in a Safe Space now. THANK YOU … Omo Baba Eh, our family’s star boy,” he wrote.
D’banj also asked his late son to extend his greetings to his uncle Femi, whom he said he equally misses, before reaffirming his love for Daniel.
Daniel died in 2018 at the age of 13 months after he reportedly drowned in a swimming pool at the family’s residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The singer and his wife welcomed Daniel in May 2017, nearly a year after their marriage in June 2016. The couple has since welcomed two other children, a boy and a girl.
D’banj has previously spoken about how his Christian faith helped him cope with the devastating loss.
