Governor Abullahi Ganduje has formally abolished the traditional Almajiri educational system in the state as the state prepares to enroll all Almajiri returnees in formal educational systems. The Governor said this during a media briefing on Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, “every child in Kano state, including Almajiri must go to school”. The Governor has also disclosed his plans in ensuring that the Almajiris are incorporated into the Free, Compulsory Primary and Basic Education policy.
