Wale Elesho Undergoes Surgery for Facial Lesion, Says ANTP

Veteran actor Wale Elesho has undergone surgery for a facial lesion, the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has revealed.

Concern over Elesho’s facial condition arose during the funeral rites of late actor Taiwo ‘Ogogo’ Hassan. Several people expressed concern about the injury. Some also advised the actor to see a dermatologist.

In an interview with the BBC, Elesho dismissed concerns that the injury was cancer. He described it as a minor condition that became enlarged because he did not seek the right treatment when it first appeared.

“It isn’t cancer. Will someone who has cancer be walking about? I will drive and go places. It’s a minor thing; it grew this big because when it started, I didn’t go to the right channel to treat it,” he said.

Adejonwo Oluwafemi Femson, national publicity secretary of ANTP, later gave an update on the actor’s condition.

In a Facebook post, Femson said Elesho had undergone surgery for the facial injury. He added that the procedure was successful and that the actor is recovering well.

“Update on my brother, Prince Adewale Adeoye Elesho. By God’s grace, his operation was successful. He is doing well and recovering. Thank you all for the calls, prayers and concern,” he wrote.

“We appreciate you. Continue to pray for his speedy recovery.”

The ANTP official’s update comes after concerns about Elesho’s facial injury prompted calls for him to seek medical attention.
