Veteran Nigerian actor Adewale Elesho, popularly known as Baba Elesho, has revealed why he considers his wife the head of his household, recounting how he once prostrated before her to seek approval before bringing his mother into their home.

Speaking in an interview on African A-List, the ace actor said, “My wife is my leader,” stressing that he values her opinion on family matters, especially those involving extended relatives.

Elesho recalled a period when his mother developed an eye problem and expressed discomfort while staying with one of his younger siblings. He decided to bring her to Lagos but first sought his wife’s consent.

“My mom had an eye problem, and I brought her to my home. The day I went to carry her from my younger sibling’s house, she told me she wasn’t comfortable with where she was. So I brought her to Lagos,” he said.

The actor explained that upon arriving home, he approached his wife before inviting his mother inside.

“Even though she’s my mother, she is an emergency visitor. When I got home, I drove in. It was a Sunday, I went upstairs and went to prostrate for my wife and told her I had come with a visitor.

“She asked, who? I replied, Alhaja. She asked what happened, and I explained everything to her.”

According to Elesho, his wife welcomed the decision and showed understanding.

“My wife said if it were her mother who was in that situation, she would also bring her home,” he said.

“She then asked where she was. I said she is inside the car, and I came to speak to her first because she had to be happy about it. She owns the home, and her reaction matters.”
