Novak Djokovic Makes Wall Street Debut as General Atlantic Adviser

Novak Djokovic has made his Wall Street debut by joining private equity firm General Atlantic as a global strategic adviser.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion will work with the firm’s leaders, portfolio companies and investors. His role will focus on sports, health and wellness investments.

“This is the first partnership of this kind for me,” Djokovic, 39, said in an interview from Wimbledon, where he is chasing his 25th Grand Slam title. “I like to disrupt, I like to challenge the status quo on and off the court, and I’m looking for people who are like-minded.”

Focus on Sports and Wellness

General Atlantic manages $126 billion in assets. The firm plans to use Djokovic’s global network to find new investment opportunities.

“Together we’re going to be able to be very effective on the investing side,” Chief Executive Officer Bill Ford said. “He has deal flow, we have deal flow, he has some unique relationships.”

The firm already owns stakes in sports and lifestyle businesses. They include Grupo Águilas, LiveMode, Vuori, Gymshark and Joe & the Juice, where Djokovic is a brand ambassador.

“That’s actually one of the areas that I really look forward to exploring with Bill and General Atlantic,” Djokovic said. There are “very compelling opportunities in sports technology, wellness space, and healthcare, which is something that I very deeply care for.”

Looking Ahead

Djokovic also said he is open to working with longtime rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on future business deals.

“I’m of course always open to doing business and collaborating with them,” he said. “I do like the idea of the future of us coming together and possibly doing something.”
