Singer Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red, has explained why he does not want his father, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, to become Nigeria’s president.
B-Red said his father would lead the country well if given the opportunity. However, he does not want him to face the pressure that comes with the presidency.
B-Red praises his father
The singer made the remarks during a 2023 interview on the Echoroom podcast. The clip resurfaced on social media this week.
The interview emerged days after Adeleke secured a second term as Osun governor. He defeated APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji in the August 15 election.
During the interview, B-Red was asked if his father could become president one day. He said people had raised the possibility.
However, B-Red said he personally did not want his father to take on the role.
He described Adeleke as someone with “such a good heart.” He also said Nigeria “go change” in every aspect if his father became president.
B-Red said his father would focus on meeting the needs of Nigerians. He added that Adeleke would not use the position for personal gain.
Adeleke’s family had wealth before politics.
B-Red also rejected claims that his family became involved in politics because of money.
According to him, the Adeleke family had been wealthy long before politics became part of their story.
He said money was not the reason his father or other relatives chose to serve in government.
The singer also spoke about his father’s position within the family. He said relatives had called Adeleke “the president of the family” for more than a decade.
This was before he became governor or held any major political office.
Adeleke family’s political history
The Adeleke family has a long political history in Osun State.
Ademola Adeleke previously represented Osun West in the Senate. He later became governor in 2022.
His late brother, Isiaka Adeleke, also served as Osun governor and senator.
Meanwhile, B-Red also discussed his music career during the podcast interview.
He recalled his early struggles with Davido and their cousin, Sina Rambo. The trio started together as a group in Atlanta before moving to Nigeria to pursue music.
