Cannes 2026 to Honor Social Impact Documentaries With Golden Globes Prize

The Artemis Rising Foundation and Think-Film Impact Production are returning to the Cannes Film Festival alongside the Golden Globes to present the Golden Globes Prize for Documentary, an initiative aimed at recognising filmmakers using nonfiction storytelling to address pressing global issues.

The award will honour a documentary filmmaker whose feature has been selected for the official 2026 Cannes Film Festival lineup, while also celebrating a body of work that confronts urgent social concerns and contributes meaningfully to the documentary landscape.

According to organisers, “The juried prize honours a documentary filmmaker with a feature in the 2026 official Cannes Film Festival selection, and whose body of work as a whole tackles urgent social issues while making a significant contribution to the documentary field.”

The winning filmmaker will receive a cash prize from the Artemis Rising Foundation during a May 18 celebration of nonfiction cinema at the Plage des Palmes. The event will also feature panel discussions on documentary filmmaking and social-impact storytelling.

The jury for the prize includes Regina K. Scully, founder and CEO of Artemis Rising Foundation; actor Kelvin Harrison Jr.; Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne; producer and Impact Partners co-founder Geralyn White Dreyfous; and Danielle Turkov Wilson, CEO and founder of Think-Film Impact Production. Mariam Fakhroo, senior executive at the Doha Film Institute, will serve as jury observer.
