For the past 9 years, thousands of people have converged at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos for a worship concert which is regarded as the biggest music concert in Africa and arguably one of the biggest music concerts in the world: The Experience Lagos. At this worship concert, gender, nationality, status and race cease to exist as people lift up ONE voice to ONE God.
The evening is not just about music alone, as in spite of the numerous tribes and denominations represented in Nigeria, the strength and beauty in diversity is witnessed. This year, The Experience Lagos is set to stage its 9th edition at the Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos on December 5th 2014 with an even stronger message of unity further emphasized by the chosen theme: One God, One Voice.
Last year, The Experience Lagos played host to no less than 700,000 worshippers with over a tenth of that number streaming the event live online. The all-night worship event had performing gospel artistes from various parts of the world, some of which included Don Moen, Frank Edwards, Cece Winans, Tye Tribbett, Donnie McClurkin, The Mid-Night Crew, Wale Adenuga, Glowreeyah Braimah, Yolanda Adams, Eben to mention a few, leading the massive attendants in a night of music, worship and prayers.
The Experience Lagos 2014 promises to be even better as an interesting lineup of local and international artistes and ministers have been announced. Artistes billed for this year’s edition include regulars such as Don Moen, Donnie McClurkin, Israel Houghton, and Chevelle Franklin. Some others such as Micah Stampley, Midnight Crew, Freke Umoh and Frank Edwards also join the list of artistes who have previously appeared and are set to return this year. This year also sees new additions like popular worship leader Sinach, Nathaniel Bassey, Angella Christie, Onos Ariyo, Chioma Jesus, amongst others to the rich lineup. Also ministering at the event amongst other preachers, will be the Senior Pastor of House on The Rock Church and convener of The Experience Lagos, Pastor Paul Adefarasin.
According to organizers, the Tafawa Balewa Square which has played host to The Experience Lagos since the first edition in 2006, has adequate sitting arrangements for those set to attend with the surrounding cricket pitch also prepared as an overflow for expected guests. Security is also guaranteed as various categories of law enforcement officers will be on ground to maintain law and order. The venue will also have ultramodern digital surround sound and large screens all over the grounds and the overflow to ensure that participants enjoy the concert no matter where they are seated.
Testimonies of remarkable breakthroughs after the all-night concert abound as many have often received encouragement for the new-year after a seemingly unproductive year. This is aside from the stories of physical, mental and spiritual healing that the House on The Rock Church receives via emails or feedback on their social media channels several days and weeks after The Experience Lagos has taken place. The biggest testimony however, is that of the nation Nigeria as every year, one of the highlights of each edition of the concert is prayer for the land as led by pastors from various denominations and ethnicities in attendance.
Another improvement this year is the Experience Portal which has been made bigger and more interactive to ensure that users from all parts of the world get The Experience every day even before the main event. To this end, insightful articles, music reviews, event information and highly engaging activities are currently being published on the official website: www.theexperiencelagos.com with provision for users to register in order to benefit fully from the rich resources shared.
For individuals in other parts of Nigeria and across the world, the website will stream the event live via video and audio feeds from the Tafawa Balewa Square. “For us, we just want to ensure that people who can’t be in Lagos for the concert do not have to miss out. Thanks to technology, people will be able to be at the Experience live from the comfort of their homes irrespective of location” a member of the organizing committee says.
All is set indeed for the thousands of men, women and children attending The Experience Lagos 9 to worship ONE God with ONE voice!
