In an emotional tribute read amidst tears, Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote has named the road to the Dangote Refinery ‘Herbert Wigwe Road’’ after his friend, Late Herbert Wigwe.
The billionaire businessman announced the immortalisation while giving a eulogy to his friend, mentee, business partner, banker, and Chief Executive Officer of Access Corporation Plc, Late Herbert Nwigwe CFR.
At the Night of Tribute held for the late banker, Dangote described Herbert as a loyal friend and a pillar of support for him and his family.
Dangote went on to state how devastated he has been since the passing of his friend. He said, “It is a loss I can’t bring myself to understand, but I take consolation in the fact that Herbert ran a good race and is in a better place”.
Amongst many things he would miss about the late businessman are his undivided loyalty, his commitment towards assisting him(Dangote), his strength, and his courage.
Recall that on February 9, 2024, Herbert Wigwe, his wife, Chizoba Wigwe, their son, Chizi Wigwe, former Nigerian Exchange Group Plc Chairman, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and two crew members were involved in a fatal helicopter crash near Nipton, California, USA.
