In nature and nurture, African craftsmanship adopts a considered approach to creating with purpose and meaning. This year, Lagos Fashion Week explores how African fashion has stood the test of time through the lens of designers whose work tells the story of a shared heritage of craftsmanship. 

This year’s schedule has been carefully curated to demonstrate our commitment to the continent by adding value to creativity, developing our knowledge sharing and skills acquisition base and equipping our youth with the right education and skills for job and wealth creation with sustainability as the key driver in building longevity and generating impact.

Lagos Fashion Week 2023 will host Runway Shows and Presentations featuring new season collections from designers taking place in the #LagosFW Tents  and around the vibrant city of Lagos, Fashion Business Series – to facilitate conversations with key players from the Nigerian and Pan African industries and beyond, LagosFW Metaverse – Created to start a dialogue with Nigeria’s digital creatives as a tool for facilitating more conversations on the need for alternative solutions to design, Swap Shop – Created to facilitate new conversations and exchange of ideas surrounding sustainability in African fashion, Thrift Flip Challenge– an activation that aims to inspire our community to embrace sustainability and fuel their creativity. XRETAIL – a curated shopping experience across key cities in Africa, LagosFW Showrooms – Access to shop some of your favourite fashion brands &  After parties – an opportunity to experience Lagos’ nightlife and connect with some of Africa’s finest creatives in a relaxed environment.

Continuing its on-going commitment to facilitate new conversations and exchange of ideas surrounding sustainability in fashion in Nigeria and Africa, Lagos Fashion Week presents:

Lagos Fashion Week  x MTN Metaverse –  A Digital Fashion Competition

The LagosFW x MTN Metaverse competition aims to showcase the beauty, excitement, and diversity of African fashion by bridging the gap between the physical and digital realms. This competition seeks to discover and promote emerging talents, encouraging the creation of digital garments with a 97% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional production methods. Moreover, it aims to foster collaboration within the Pan-African fashion community.

Open to all digital fashion creators across Africa, the competition invites participants to design and share two looks that epitomize the future of African fashion. The winning designer will have the opportunity to see their creations featured in the MTN Metaverse at Lagos Fashion Week 2023. 

Application deadline: 16th October 2023.

Green Access 2023: – Transforming Waste into Innovative Fashion

Green Access returns this year with a profound focus on transforming waste in Lagos into innovative, eco-conscious designs. Applications were exclusively open to Nigerian brands that understand the unique challenges and opportunities of our vibrant city. Luqman Ajani, Founder of Ajaneé; Adebayo Adedamola, Founder of Bornstarng; Wuraola Omiyale, Founder of By.Wuzzy; Tunde Shoremekun, Founder of E.S.O by Liman; and Temetan Omolabake, Founder of Dust of the Earth will take to the runway after months of intensive workshops on circular practices towards fashion design.

As Lagos Fashion Week continually champions sustainability, Green Access showcases how creativity and eco-consciousness combine to create groundbreaking fashion that resonates with our environment.

Lagos Fashion Week and The Fashion Collective Naija – Garments Of The Future

Lagos Fashion Week is embarking on an innovative collaboration with The Fashion Collective Naija to venture into uncharted territories by introducing “Garments of the Future,” an initiative aimed to create digital replicas of clothing seen on the runway. This collaboration represents a pivotal step forward in the fashion industry, as it aligns physical fashion presentations with emerging digital possibilities.

Lagos Fashion Week Tents will officially open for runway shows from 26th to 29th of October, 6pm daily at Federal Palace Hotel and off site shows from the 29th of October.
