Africa Magic Showcase is set to premiere an intriguing crime series titled The Slum King in October. The series, which premieres on October 8, 2023, stars Tobi Bakre as Edafe “Maje Esu”, a charismatic kingpin who rises to the top of the slums after a tragic childhood.
The Slum King is a captivating story of ambition, revenge, and the corrupting influence of power. At the tender age of 11, Edafe witnessed the gruesome murder of his entire family by a ruthless gang of armed robbers. Overwhelmed with guilt and trauma, Edafe morphs into Maje, the ruthless king of the slums.
Maje’s journey to power is paved with blood and betrayal. He joins a drug cartel network and quickly ascends the ranks, becoming one of the most feared and respected criminals in the city. But Maje’s success comes at a price.
