The inaugural Miss Universe Nigeria contest, organized by the Silverbird Group , has officially commenced, marking a significant departure from past pageant traditions.
Traditionally, the winner of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) contest would represent Nigeria at Miss World, with the first runner-up donning the Miss Universe crown. However, Miss Universe Nigeria is now charting its course.
Distinguishing itself from the MBGN pageant, the Miss Universe Nigeria competition introduces a novel approach. The eligibility criteria have been expanded to include single, married, single mothers, or divorced contestants. Moreover, aspiring participants are welcomed regardless of their body size, whether slender or plus-sized, provided they fall within the age range of 18 to 28.
The inaugural edition commenced in September, with contestants engaging in various activities leading up to the grand finale.
The winner stands to receive an array of prizes, including a car, cash rewards, lucrative endorsement deals, and the coveted opportunity to represent Nigeria on the international stage at the Miss Universe competition, scheduled to take place in El Salvador this December.
