Mark Margolis, a celebrated actor famous for his iconic portrayals of Hector Salamanca on “Breaking Bad” and Better Call Saul, has tragically passed away at the age of 83. The news of his demise was confirmed on Thursday.
The actor, who also gained recognition for his role as Alberto the Shadow in “Scarface,” succumbed to a brief illness that led him to Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, as reported by his son, Morgan Margolis, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Throughout his illustrious career in the entertainment industry, Margolis left an indelible mark on the hearts of audiences worldwide. In recognition of his exceptional talent, he earned an Emmy nomination in 2012 for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series for his stellar performance as Tio Salamanca on “Breaking Bad.“
Mark Margolis had an extensive filmography spanning over four decades, starting from 1976. Some of his remarkable roles included appearances in renowned films like “Scarface,” “The Wrestler,” “Hannibal,” “Glory,” “Requiem for a Dream,” “Black Swan,” “The Fountain,” “Ace Ventura,” and “Pi.”
Beyond the silver screen, Margolis’s versatility also shined in his roles on TV. Notably, he portrayed “Jimmy” in “The Equalizer” and took on various roles in “Law & Order.” Furthermore, he delivered an unforgettable performance as Antonio Nappa alongside Ernie Hudson, J.K. Simmons, and Lee Tergesen in the acclaimed series ‘Oz.’
