BBNaija Level up Housemate, Groovy, talked about his relationship with Phyna in the house, his attraction to Beauty, and how he tends to keep his relationships private on Unfiltered with OloriSuperGal.
OSG: So how does it feels without the infringement of Microphone, Cameras, no in Check your transmitter if working?
Groovy: It’s refreshing and a different back into the outside of the world. I’m enjoying it, waking up and sleeping when I want to interact with people outside the world and I feel I’m enjoying everything.
OSG: What is it about your pink hair as the first housemate introduced on the show, you went into the house with the pink hair and now you still have it?
Groovy. The pink hair just symbolizes that vibrancy about me, when you see the color, it is catchy and I feel like that is the personality I bring (Groovymono, the Pink Panther). I just love the fact that everything about me is catchy and I think I did that in the house.
OSG: What attracted you to Beauty the first?
Groovy: Erm, first she is pretty, I’m a lover of beauty and physical appearance and also her character, she had a lot going for her being a lawyer, beauty queen, and talented as well. I love the fact I could have intellectual conversations with her as well and she is pretty smart as well.
OSG: Why did you still stick with her after the first fight you guys had even though Doyin sensed that she was Stout a fight the second Saturday Party?
Groovy: To be honest, I had no feeling she was going to start up any fight because obviously with the first Chomzy situation it was like, Ok this is the problem and now that we know this is the problem, let’s find a way to solve it and the solution was very simple.
OSG: Your attraction to Chomzy, was the reason you and Beauty had issues in level 2.
Groovy: Na! I dispute that it was not my attraction to her and I feel like I can’t say anything about what Chomzy’s intentions were I got to find out about the whole intention later but I think Beauty felt I was going move to her and I wouldn’t do that not in real life not to talk of on national TV.
OSG: Your stay in Biggie’s house, nine weeks. Did you see yourself getting this far?
Groovy: Obviously, I came into the house to win because I always say I came into the house for 3 reasons, to win, to level up, and for the experience because it’s an experience like no other. Even though I’m coming out in the ninth week, obviously which is not what I would have guage for but I’m still happy and it’s a blessing I believe God has a reason for why I am out and I’m ready for it.
OSG: Before Phyna told you about Amaka liking you, do you have any clue about that?
Groovy: No! I didn’t have any clue, I think the closest Amaka and I ever came was during wager plus the Thursday night party where we just danced.
OSG: Did Amaka ever tell you that she likes you?
Groovy. No, I found out from Phyna
OSG: Your Rommie, Sheggz, you both are always talking about each other and even now you guys are out of the show together.
Groovy: It’s a bromance you know. I and I believe it’s a blessing and we are still carrying out the relationship.
OSG: Talking about you and Sheggz, when the house was merged, you guys kind of drifted apart. Can you tell us what all that was about?
Groovy: I think it is obvious that we were battling each other for survival either for water or the HOH game. That made it look like you have to be selfish a bit because you have to worry about yourself before your man but apart from that, there is still love.
OSG: What was your experience in the house and also what was the bromance following the issues between Phyna, Bella, and Sheggz in coming into the situation because your guy and his girl were involved?
Groovy: Sheggz had this thing going on with Bella, so he found out myself and Phyna when I found out upstairs because I told him. So with the whole argument, Phyna being HOH and we spent like 2 nights going upstairs and coming down for the wager business, I think Phyna said something to Bella and Phyna’s world, she didn’t take those words kindly and I know that Bell doesn’t like to hide her feelings likewise Phyma as well. So I just saw it like two women having an argument and we already know it can’t get physical because we know the rule and that’s where my man Sheggz decided to step in to join Bella, so I had to step in too to take a step back and that’s where the whole idea of you look after your girl and I look after mine but we are cool though.
OSG. Do you feel disappointed that you never won the HOH game doing your time in the house?
Groovy: Yes! I think that will be my top 2 regrets in the show.
OSG: Who were the contenders for you in the house during the HOH game?
Groovy. Most of the HOH was won by the level 1 housemates (Hermes, Adekunle, Chomzy). A lot of the contenders were coming from level 1. I wish I won because I put in the most work and I’m always this close, especially the last one.
OSG: Your relationships with Phyna apart from what we saw in the house, now do you see your relationship surviving in the outside world?
Groovy: Yes! We have already done our thing in the house, waiting for her to come outside, and then we can have a discussion and see how it goes from there.
OSG: No matter how Phyma tries, you refuse to use the word ‘Love’. So was there a reason for that?
Groovy: The reason is that I like to keep my relationship private and we are in a space where a lot of things happening becomes other people’s business.
OSG: Did you and Phyna have sex in the house because there was some aggressive cuddling?
Groovy: No, we didn’t and that was why I said if you watch the show, you will hear our conversations, I always told her that it will never happen.
OSG: So what does the future hold for Groovy?
Groovy: I came into the house as a model, as an artist and I’m going to use this platform to just broaden my reach and tap into different things, take my business to the next level, my music, and my modeling, that has been my thing for like the longest time and also found out that the boy can act, so I should be getting some kudos here and there, I just feel great to have the platform and I’m looking forward tapping into many things and also giving back to the society, the people that supported me and kept me this long.
OSG: Have you seen your family come out?
Groovy: Yes and I dropped one or two tears when I saw them and they are also a big reason why I do what I do and being the firstborn always trying to look out for my siblings and they come to tell me they were proud of me even though I didn’t win made me emotional and I’m just grateful to God.
