Gonzalo Higuain scored a brace as Chelsea returned to winning ways with a 4-0 mauling of Huddersfield.
Higuain was signed on loan from Juventus and teams up with Sarri after their spell together at Napoli. Higuain’s role meant Hazard started in his preferred position and it paid off as he also scored a brace.
He opened his account early in the first half after he was played through by Kante.
Hazard’s controversial penalty doubled Chelsea’s lead before half-time. Although replay shows it simulation took place outside the penalty box
“When Higuain arrived he wasn’t at the top of his physical condition. Now he is improving. Apart from the goals, my feeling is he is really very suitable to play close to Hazard,” Sarri said.
“For us it is very useful, for Higuain, he will be able to score a lot of goals, but also it will be good for Eden.”
Both Higuain and Hazard later doubled their tally and Luiz added a fifth to give end Chelsea’s run of successive defeats.
“We started really very well. In the first 20 to 25 minutes I saw my football. We moved the ball very fast,” Sarri said.
“But we need to understand that we shouldn’t need to lose a game to have motivation.
“We have to improve on this, the consistency, the motivation. We need to improve the mentality.”
The win moved Chelsea to fourth, three points ahead of Arsenal who play Manchester City tomorrow.
