Following his self appointment as Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum resources, there have been speculations that President Muhammadu Buhari might also take over as president of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC.
However, all that speculation came to an end recently when the organization in a recent update on its website named Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu has replacement to the immediate past petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, as the Conference President of OPEC.
Recall, Alison-Madueke was named the first female president of OPEC when she was elected at the 166th ordinary meeting of the organisation in November, 2014.
