In December 2014, Wificombat Academy in collaboration with Microsoft Nigeria hosted one of the biggest global ICT events in the world, “The Hour of Code” Nigeria Computer Science Week 2014 which saw about 15 schools in Lagos from both primary and secondary schools participating in a free programming workshop.
Now in December 2015, Lagos State Government Ministry of Science and technology will be hosting the Hour of Code workshop in collaboration with Wificombat Academy at the E-learning centre this Saturday 5th of December.
The event is a one day workshop were 100 students from the Lagos state Government schools, 50 students in primary school and 50 students in secondary schools, will be taught on how to design games and animation.
Facilitators from Andela, Wificombat Academy and Microsoft Nigeria will be on hand to teach the students how to code.
The commissioner for both the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education and the Permanent secretaries will be the special guests of honour.
One of the main highlights of the program is to get our leaders to participate with the students and code with them.
The partners are Software Alliance Resources, Oracle, CityFM, Ebonylife TV, Andela, OSG, 7up, Interswitch, Microsoft and Lego.

- The Hour of code event is one of the biggest events held throughout the world to celebrate a day of coding for kids from the ages of 5 to 16 years old.
- The “Hour of Code” is a campaign to show that anyone can learn the basics of coding and become a maker, a creator and an innovator.
- It’s a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify “code” targeted at elementary and secondary school students for complete beginners.
