Members of the House of Assembly in Nasarawaย state came to blows yesterday following a disagreement during their plenary session.
The bone of contention was the appointment of sole administrators for the local government councils following the expiration of the two year tenures of Local government chairmen.
Governor Tanko Almakura’s decision to appoint sole administrators before the local government elections are held went contrary to the lawmakers resolve to hold elections immediately.
However some of the lawmakers appeared to break ranks and sided with the governor which led to the initial disagreement during the session. The speaker attempted to suspend six members who had broken ranks and this led to the exchange of words and eventually blows.
