Mama G earned ₦2,000 from her very first movie role during a conversation with Carter Efe recently on livestream. Patience Ozokwor shared the story while discussing her early Nollywood journey and the modest payments actors received during those years.
She recalled receiving ₦5,000 afterward, a figure that initially left her baffled because she considered it significant money back then. According to Mama G, her next payment reached ₦8,000 before another role eventually brought her ₦15,000 for her performance onscreen.
Those early earnings reflected Nollywood’s developing industry, when actors worked with limited resources while building careers through determination and passion. During Carter Efe’s livestream, the veteran actress explained that she lacked money then, making every payment especially meaningful to her.
Although ₦2,000 sounds extremely small today, Mama G emphasized that ₦5,000 carried considerable value during that earlier period financially then. Her recollections offer fans a glimpse into the financial realities that confronted Nigerian actors during Nollywood’s formative years and growth.
Mama G’s career later flourished, turning her into one of Nigeria’s most recognizable actresses after decades of memorable performances onscreen.
