The Uruguayan was suspended from competitive action for four months and nine international matches after biting Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup, but was still able to complete a £75million transfer from Liverpool to the Catalan club in the summer.
It remains to be seen in what capacity Suarez, 27, will feature against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, but it is clear both Suarez and Barcelona cannot wait a moment longer for his debut.
“I was scared that the transfer would be called off as a repercussion of the incident. I was aware that could have happened,” Suarez said.
“By then the contact had begun with Barca and soon my agent Pere Guardiola rang me and told me it was done and I began to cry.”
“I was emotional because of the situation I was going through and the faith Barca had shown in me. I felt really happy for the commitment the club were demonstrating in me.”
After Barca triumped over Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday, Lionel Messi said: “We are desperately awaiting the return of Luis.
“He is a great striker who will score a lot of goals and give us a lot of strength as a team. I am happy for him because he has spent a lot of time without playing.”
And Barca boss Luis Enrique said: “From what I have seen of him in these last few weeks it is clear that he is getting close to his best.
“He is very intense in training, he places a lot of importance in the day-to-day work and we hope that he will offer a lot to us.”
