Rockstar Games has confirmed Grand Theft Auto 6 will require up to 212GB of storage space for its upcoming pre-load. Digital pre-loading begins Tuesday, November 10, giving players nine days to download the highly anticipated game before its official launch.
PlayStation 5 players can begin downloads at midnight local time; Xbox users start globally at midnight GMT on November 10. Rockstar revealed the details through its official Newswire, encouraging players to ensure their consoles have enough available storage beforehand.
The company clarified that the 212GB requirement represents the maximum expected space, depending on each player’s gaming device. Consequently, GTA 6 could become one of the largest game downloads players have encountered across current-generation gaming consoles.
The November 10 pre-load window gives digital buyers additional time to prepare before the game’s worldwide release on November 19. Players who pre-order digital editions can download the files early, allowing them to begin playing once Rockstar unlocks access.
Meanwhile, physical editions will arrive as code-in-box packages, with participating retailers expecting availability beginning November 12. Rockstar previously confirmed that GTA 6 will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
The upcoming adventure follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos as they navigate criminal conspiracies across the fictional state of Leonida. With launch approaching, GTA 6 fans should clear sufficient storage space now to avoid downloading problems during the pre-load period.
