The new Chief of Staff, Professor Gambari spoke to the news correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja and he expressed his allegiance to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, rather than the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He also stated that he is yet to resume into the office and when he does, he promises to perform his duties effectively and efficiently.

He also promised to serve the President with the best of his ability and also said to give the President his full support, loyalty and competence.
