Former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) housemates have opened up about life after the reality show. They said the platform gave them visibility, personal growth and career opportunities.
The former contestants shared their experiences on Wednesday. They spoke during the media launch of the 11th edition of BBNaija.
Learning and Self-Discovery
Doyin David, who appeared on the ‘Level Up’ and ‘All Stars’ editions, said the show helped her understand herself better.
“One of my biggest lessons actually started in the house. Watching myself back made me realise I did not know myself as much as I thought I did,” she said.
She also spoke about balancing fame with her personal life.
“As for balancing my personal life and my brand, it did not happen immediately after the show. I had to learn along the way, make mistakes, grow from them and eventually find that balance.”
Staying True to Personal Values
Uriel Oputa, who featured in the ‘See Gobbe’ and ‘All Stars’ editions, said the show did not change her lifestyle.
“I did not have to find a balance because healthy living is already my lifestyle. It is what I do every day. It is not something I switch on or off because of the entertainment industry; it is simply who I am,” she added.
Success Requires Hard Work
DJ Flo, a contestant from the ‘No Loose Guard’ edition, said the show only creates opportunities. She noted that success depends on effort after leaving the house.
“Vision without execution is just hallucination. The show gives you an opportunity, but it does not do the work for you. You have to come out here and put in extra work every day,” DJ Flo said.
Kola Omotosho, a season 10 housemate, also described the show as a career boost.
“Big Brother Naija gave me visibility, and I am grateful for that. But staying relevant requires passion, drive and consistency,” Kola said.
Countdown to Season 11
The 2026 edition of BBNaija will premiere on July 26. Organisers have announced a grand prize of N160 million for the winner.
The prize is the highest in the show’s history since it debuted in 2006
