After more than a decade of waiting, Grand Theft Auto VI will arrive on November 19, bringing a new crime story, characters and a huge map to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Rockstar Games, the publisher of the franchise, has placed Jason Duval and Lucia Camino at the centre of the story.
“Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida – forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”
Where can you play GTA 6?
Players can access GTA 6 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S at launch.
Rockstar has not announced a PC release date. Previous GTA titles, however, reached consoles before later arriving on PC.
What will GTA 6 look like?
Netflix released an extended preview of GTA 6 on August 27. The 27-minute special features cinematic and gameplay footage captured entirely on PlayStation 5.
The footage takes players through Vice City, the Miami-inspired location that fans know from previous GTA games.
GTA 6 also expands beyond the city. Players can explore Leonida, a fictional state inspired by Florida.
The state includes the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Mount Kalaga and Ambrosia.
Some reports claim the map is much larger than previous GTA maps. Rockstar has not confirmed those reports.
What is the storyline?
Jason and Lucia drive the game’s main story. Lucia has recently left prison and wants to escape her troubled past.
She sees Jason as a chance to build the “good life” her mother once told her about. The pair then form a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style partnership while working in the world of drug runners.
Their actions soon pull them into a wider criminal conspiracy across Leonida.
Who are the characters?
Rockstar has confirmed several characters alongside Jason and Lucia.
Cal Hampton is Jason’s friend and Brian’s associate. He enjoys “snooping on Coast Guard comms” from home.
Boobie Ike is a Vice City legend with interests in real estate, a strip club and a recording studio.
Dre’Quan Priest is an aspiring musician who wants to move beyond performing at Boobie’s strip club.
Bae-Luxe and Roxy, known as Real Dimez, are best friends and a rap duo signed to Only Raw Records.
Raul Bautista is a charming and experienced bank robber who looks for new talent.
Brian Heder is a veteran drug runner who operated during the peak of smuggling in the Keys.
When will GTA 6 be released?
Rockstar will release GTA 6 on November 19 after years of development, delays and leaks.
Preorders opened on June 25. The standard edition costs $79.99, while the ultimate edition costs $99.99.
