Miles Morales takes a bold step toward his biggest battle yet as “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” first footage shows him escaping from the Prowler, with directors teasing the “final chapter of Miles’ story” at CinemaCon.
The preview, unveiled by Sony Pictures, picks up directly after the events of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, where Miles is stranded in a dangerous alternate reality. In this universe, he encounters a darker version of himself, Miles G. Morales, voiced by Jharrel Jerome, who has taken on the identity of the Prowler.
The footage highlights the franchise’s signature visual style, described as “vibrant, phantasmagoric imagery,” while raising tension with Miles tied up and interrogated by his uncle. The confrontation escalates when Miles breaks free with his venom-shock powers, triggering a battle against his alternate self and Uncle Aaron.
Familiar allies, including Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, Spider-Noir, Peter B. Parker and Spider-Punk, return to aid him, alongside new characters introduced in the sequence.
Filmmakers emphasised that the upcoming instalment will be the “final chapter of Miles’ story” and the most “emotional” and “spectacular” entry in the series.
The film continues the narrative left hanging in 2023, where Miles’ mission to save his father remains unresolved. Production delays, including the actors’ strike, pushed the release from its initial 2024 date.
Featuring voices from Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld, the film is now set to arrive in theatres on June 18, 2027.
