Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has opened up about the financial struggles he faced in the early stages of his career, revealing that his generosity often left him broke despite earning money.

In a recent interview with OkayAfrica, the “Cash App” crooner shared that after he began making money, he found himself repeatedly running out of cash. According to him, his deep desire to support family, friends, and people around him led to excessive spending, leaving him financially strained on multiple occasions.

Bella explained that he often went out of his way to ensure those close to him were happy, even when it meant being low on funds. He admitted that he struggled to ignore the challenges others were facing, which pushed him to give beyond his means.

Reflecting on that period, the singer noted that his perspective on support has since evolved. He said he eventually realised that helping others is not always about money, but can come in different forms, such as prayers, emotional encouragement, and psychological support. Simply being present and allowing people to grow and find their path, he added, can be just as impactful.

The artist also acknowledged that with better financial awareness, he could have managed his earnings more effectively at the time. However, he described the experience as a valuable lesson that shaped his understanding of the balance between generosity and sustainability.
