The former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido as well as his two sons were today granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja. Lamido and his two sons are facing charges of money laundering, the charges were brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Lamido and his sons were initially remanded in prison custody after their application for bail was not heard by a Federal High Court in Kano state.This prompted them to transfer the case to Abuja for determination of bail.
Lamido was granted bail today on Self recognition while bail for both his sons was set at 25 million each as well as two sureties. Lamido’s travel documents have been requested by the court.
Lamido, his two sons as well as a fourth accused person are alleged to have laundered about N1.35 billion while he served as State governor.
