It is unclear when the Online station kicked off, but since it did, Radio Biafra has become even more prominent with its constant publicity across social media platforms Facebook and Twitter.

The radio station is basically committed to inciting primordial feelings as well as attempting to create a rallying point around the defunct Republic of Biafra which unsuccessfully tried to secede from Nigeria in 1967.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Dr Yemi Folasade-Esan, revealed today that the radio station, operating from an unknown location has been jammed.

“We also gave a report on (Radio Biafra) that because right now the signals from Radio Biafra have been jammed. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has successfully jammed that.

“The NBC is also working with security operatives to get those that are behind that radio because it is an illegal radio.

“It is not licensed by anybody to be on Nigeria’s airwaves.“
