Common and John Legend Deliver Stirring Performance of ‘Glory’ at Obama Centre Grand Opening

American rapper and actor Common joined singer and songwriter John Legend on stage during the grand opening of the Obama Presidential Centre. Together, they delivered a moving performance of their Oscar-winning song, Glory.

The song quickly captured the attention of the audience. Its message of hope, justice, and perseverance connected with guests throughout the event. As the performance unfolded, many attendees sang along and applauded the duo’s powerful delivery.

Originally written for the 2014 film Selma, Glory has become a symbol of the fight for equality and social progress. Therefore, the song proved to be a fitting choice for an event that celebrated the legacy of former U.S. President Barack Obama.

Common energised the crowd with his thoughtful lyrics. Meanwhile, Legend impressed attendees with his soulful vocals and commanding stage presence. Together, they created one of the most memorable moments of the ceremony.

In addition, the event attracted political leaders, community organisers, cultural figures, and supporters from across the United States. Guests gathered to mark the opening of a centre that aims to inspire leadership, civic engagement, and public service.

The Obama Presidential Centre will preserve key moments from Obama’s presidency. It will also provide educational programs and resources for future generations. As a result, many see the centre as an important space for learning and community development.
