Bringing Duncan Mighty to My Label Cost Me My Career Sky B

Palisico Ogunka, the Nigerian artist popularly known as Sky B, has revealed how his music career suffered a major setback after he introduced fellow singer Duncan Mighty to his former record label.

Speaking during a recent appearance on the KaaTruths podcast, the singer said the decision eventually led to his exit from the label and disrupted what had been a flourishing career.

According to Sky B, the label had wanted him to bring Timaya, but he chose to introduce Duncan Mighty instead.

“I entered the wrong record company. I carried my brother Duncan Mighty into the record company. When he came to the record company, I was already on tour in Europe. He came and caused a problem inside the record company,” he said.

“The man blamed me for bringing Duncan Mighty to the label instead of Timaya, whom he had asked me to bring. He asked both of us to leave.”

Sky B said the fallout affected projects the label had invested in, including his popular “Ma Bebe” remix.

“All the ‘Ma Bebe’ remix that I did and shot in Switzerland, it was the man who sponsored them all. But he seized everything. That was what affected me.

“My mistake was bringing Duncan Mighty into that record company. I did not know it would cost me my career.”

The singer added that he had hoped both artists would thrive under the arrangement.

“I wanted it to be like Mo Hits. Before the 10-year contract finished, I had smoked plenty of Indian hemp. Because I was frustrated. I smoked till I lost lyrics. There was a time they said I had died,” he said.
