Munich’s Allianz Arena and Barcelona’s Camp Nou will host the 2028 and 2029 Champions League finals, respectively, UEFA announced on Tuesday.
The Allianz Arena will stage its third Champions League final in 2028. It previously hosted the final in 2012 and 2025.
Chelsea beat Bayern Munich on penalties in the 2012 final. Paris Saint-Germain then won their first Champions League title at the stadium in 2025.
The 70,000-capacity Allianz Arena is already ready to host the event. Camp Nou, however, is still undergoing redevelopment as part of a revamp project launched in 2023.
“This is fantastic news for us: The Allianz Arena, FC Bayern, and Munich stand for international appeal, genuine hospitality, and the highest organisational quality,” Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said in a statement on the club’s website.
“We want to offer fans another exceptional experience and showcase Munich as a cosmopolitan, sports-loving, and exceptionally well-prepared host city.”
Camp Nou will host the Champions League final for the third time in 2029. The stadium last hosted the showpiece in 1999.
Manchester United beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in that final. The English side scored twice in stoppage time to complete a dramatic comeback.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta welcomed UEFA’s decision. He said the selection reflected the scale of the club’s stadium redevelopment project.
“It’s an immense pride for FC Barcelona and for all Barcelona fans,” Barcelona president Joan Laporta said in a statement.
“UEFA’s confidence in hosting one of the biggest events in world football highlights the scale and ambition of this project and establishes Spotify Camp Nou as a new icon of Barcelona and an international reference.”
Barcelona will host the final one year before Spain co-hosts the 2030 World Cup with Portugal and Morocco.
Meanwhile, Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano, home of Atletico Madrid, will host the 2026-27 Champions League final on June 5.
Cardiff to host Women’s Champions League final
UEFA also announced the venues for the 2028 and 2029 Women’s Champions League finals.
Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon-Decines will host the 2028 final. Cardiff’s Principality Stadium will stage the 2029 showpiece.
The Welsh stadium has previously hosted the men’s Champions League final. Real Madrid defeated Juventus there in 2017.
“Our ambition is for the UEFA Women’s Champions League final to become a catalyst for the continued transformation of women’s and girls’ football in Wales,” Football Association of Wales chief executive Noel Mooney said.
