Aliko Dangote, the Nigerian billionaire businessman, has accepted Isbae U’s invitation to appear on his YouTube show ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ to share his experiences with younger Nigerians.
The businessman gave his response on Monday when the skit maker, whose real name is Adebayo Ridwan, visited the Dangote Refinery in Lagos.
During the visit, Isbae U said most of Dangote’s previous interviews had appeared on platforms that young Nigerians do not usually watch.
He argued that young people are an important audience for Dangote’s businesses. He also noted their interest in investing in his company.
“Most of the interviews we’ve seen you have been on platforms that my generation doesn’t watch,” he said.
“…ironically, we are the ones interested in investing in your company; we want to buy this IPO and give it a platform. I am not saying you should sack your media team…”
The comedian then urged Dangote to appear on his show, describing it as an opportunity to connect with a younger audience.
“I really think we should have a man with the biggest refinery on the biggest show on YouTube in the world ‘, Curiosity Made Me Ask’. So the question is, when do you think we can have you on the show, sir?”
Dangote speaks on engaging young Nigerians.
In his response, Dangote described young Nigerians as the country’s future. He also admitted that his generation had not done enough for Nigeria and Africa.
“Honestly, the future that we have is actually you, the youth. We, our own generation, really, have not done very well for Nigeria and for Africa. That’s the truth,” he said.
The billionaire stressed the need for older Nigerians to share their experiences with younger people. He said such conversations could help them understand the country’s history and development.
“So we need to sit down with some of you and discuss our own experience with you,” he added.
Dangote also noted that many young Nigerians knew little about some of the country’s past political leaders and historical experiences.
