Aliko Dangote Net Worth Surges to $51.3 Billion After Refinery IPO

Aliko Dangote net worth has surged from $28.5 billion to $51.3 billion following developments surrounding his refinery IPO. Forbes’ real-time billionaire index reflected the dramatic increase after investors began valuing Dangote’s massive petroleum refinery more significantly.

The jump adds roughly $22.8 billion to the Nigerian billionaire’s fortune within a remarkably short period. Dangote’s wealth increase follows a $2.5 billion private placement that attracted strong institutional investor demand earlier this year.

That transaction pushed the refinery’s implied valuation to approximately $42 billion, according to Forbes’ latest assessment. Meanwhile, Dangote launched Africa’s largest initial public offering, offering millions of shares to institutional and retail investors.

The refinery IPO offers up to 4.1 billion shares, representing about 3.3 percent of the company. Investors can purchase a minimum of ten shares, creating an entry point of roughly $4 for individuals. Dangote retained approximately 87 percent ownership after the private placement, maintaining control over the strategic energy business.

The refinery currently processes around 700,000 barrels of crude oil daily at full operating capacity. Furthermore, Dangote plans to double production capacity to approximately 1.4 million barrels daily by 2029. Financial performance has also strengthened significantly, with the refinery recording $1.82 billion profit during 2026’s first half. That result represents a major turnaround from the $476 million loss recorded during the corresponding period last year.

Forbes says the refinery now contributes more to Dangote’s fortune than his cement, fertilizer, and sugar businesses combined. Consequently, Aliko Dangote net worth could increase further if public demand pushes the refinery’s valuation higher.

The billionaire’s latest wealth surge also strengthens his position among the world’s richest individuals. His fortune reportedly moved him from 76th to 36th place globally on Forbes’ real-time billionaire ranking. The development marks another major milestone for Nigeria’s richest businessman and his expanding industrial empire across Africa.
