Singer Qing Madi has accused her former label manager, Joy Tongo, of forgery, theft and sabotaging her music career after several tracks from her Barely Legal EP disappeared from Spotify.
The 19-year-old made the allegations during a TikTok Live session on Wednesday night. Fans and music commentators had earlier noticed that multiple songs from the project were no longer available on the streaming platform.
Qing Madi Speaks Out
During the live session, Madi accused Tongo of interfering with her career and targeting her music releases.
“She stole from me. She did a bunch of weird things, forging my signature… there are things I don’t want to mention here so I don’t get emotional,” Madi said. “She sued me for $2 million, and she lost the case.”
The singer said she was under 18 when the lawsuit began, forcing her mother to appear alongside her in court.
Madi also claimed the Spotify issue follows a pattern. She recalled that her earlier single, Pepper Me, disappeared from the platform before her team successfully challenged the removal.
“You took down ‘Pepper Me’, I said alright, bet. After we proved it was an illegal takedown, they went through the corners to take down this project,” she said. “What in the world is the problem? How are you fighting with a kid?”
Earlier Allegations
The dispute did not begin this week. In April, Madi accused her former label of trying to silence her career.
“My ex-label, the same people that tried to destroy Cynthia Morgan, are trying to do the same to me,” she wrote.
She also alleged that her song using ‘KFMD’ disappeared from Spotify because it was gaining momentum on the platform.
Joy Tongo Responds
Tongo has denied the allegations and offered a different account of events.
In a series of Instagram Stories, she questioned Madi’s claim that she had won a court case.
“What case have you won? Because last time I checked, the case still hasn’t gotten to trial.”
Tongo also argued that legal restrictions prevented a formal takedown notice and suggested that the Spotify removals followed a different process.
Dispute Continues
The disagreement has now become a public battle, with both sides presenting conflicting accounts of the legal dispute and the Spotify removals.
