Janet Jackson is set to appear at the upcoming Grammy Hall of Fame Gala, while Erykah Badu has been added to the performance lineup for a star-studded night celebrating some of music’s most influential recordings.
The event will be held on May 8 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, where Jackson will make a special appearance in honour of her album “Rhythm Nation 1984,” which is being inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
Badu will join George Clinton and Blackbyrd McKnight for a tribute performance of Funkadelic’s “Maggot Brain,” one of 14 recordings being inducted this year.
The gala will feature a series of tribute performances celebrating the inducted works. Fyütch & Aura V will perform Ella Jenkins’ “You’ll Sing a Song, and I’ll Sing a Song,” while Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson revisit selections from “Dreamboat Annie.” Lucinda Williams will perform from “Car Wheels on a Gravel Road,” Take 6 will cover the Soul Stirrers’ “Jesus Gave Me Water,” and Taylor Hanson will pay tribute to Nick Drake’s “Pink Moon.”
Josh Groban and Teddy Swims will also perform as part of a special tribute to Warner Records, which is receiving the Visionary of Music Award. Meanwhile, Norah Jones, who is being honored with the Ray Charles Architect of Sound Award, is also among the night’s performers.
