Uzor Arukwe has opened up about the personal tension his acting career has created within his family, revealing that acceptance at home has not come easily, especially from his father.
In a recent conversation with Chude Jideonwo, the Nollywood actor shared that his father is aware of his profession but has never fully accepted it. According to him, the idea of acting as a career still feels difficult for his father to reconcile, to the point where it remains an uncomfortable subject within the family.
He explained that despite his growing success in Nollywood, there is still a sense of disbelief at home, with his father struggling to come to terms with the path he chose. Uzor described the situation as emotionally layered, noting that while his father has heard about his work, acceptance has not followed.
His mother’s response, however, evolved. Initially hesitant and influenced by her husband’s stance, she encouraged him to consider a more traditional path. But as his career progressed and his passion became clearer, she gradually shifted her position and now fully supports him.
Uzor also reflected on his long-standing creative personality, saying those around him have always known him to be expressive and inclined toward the arts. He noted that his family, extended relatives included, have never doubted his creativity, even if they questioned the direction it eventually took.
