Cristiano Ronaldo Says 2026 Could Be His Final Year In Professional Football

Cristiano Ronaldo says 2026 could become his final year playing professional football, as he prepares for retirement eventually. The 41-year-old Al-Nassr forward revealed his plans during a Zoom interview with Vogue from his home in Portugal.

Ronaldo explained that he wants to leave a spectacular legacy when his remarkable football career finally reaches its conclusion. His comments came shortly before his intimate wedding with longtime partner Georgina Rodríguez on August 11, 2026.

The Portuguese superstar has enjoyed a professional career spanning approximately 25 years across several European and international football stages. From Sporting CP and Manchester United to Real Madrid, Juventus and Al-Nassr, Ronaldo has built an extraordinary career.

Throughout those years, the forward collected numerous individual awards, domestic trophies and international honours with Portugal. Ronaldo also guided Portugal to their first major international title at Euro 2016 before winning another Nations League.

Now, Cristiano Ronaldo retirement plans appear increasingly focused on family, travel and enjoying life beyond professional football. After retirement, Ronaldo expects to spend more time travelling, playing padel and enjoying activities alongside his family.

The football icon admitted that he does not currently have one specific ambition for his post-playing career. Instead, Cristiano Ronaldo retirement plans centre around enjoying personal freedom after decades of intense professional commitments.

His potential retirement would close one of football’s most remarkable eras, following an extraordinary career filled with historic achievements. The Al-Nassr star still hopes to create more memorable moments before eventually stepping away from professional football altogether.
