Nigerian singer, Candy Bleakz has revealed some issues she has with her fellow female singers in the Nigerian music industry.
Unlike their male counterparts, the Chocolate City signed artist claims that her female colleagues are uninterested in supporting up-and-coming female artists in the industry.
Appearing as a guest on The Honest Bunch podcast hosted by media personality, Nedu, Candy Bleakz said, “It’s easier for me to tell Bella Shmurda to jump on a song with me than the female artist”.
“There is no female artist in Nigeria now that you can say has helped to put out another female artist who is trying to come up, but you can say it for the males. When there is a fast-rising female artist, the females don’t really support”, she continued.
The singer did, however, make an exception for the “Gen Z” female artists, claiming that they were actively working to alter the perception by engaging in more joint ventures.
Candy Bleakz released the remix to one of her hit songs ‘Wale’ in January 2023. The remix features Nigerian female singer and producer, Simi.
