Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly recognized as Skales, has unveiled a personal chapter of his life, recounting how he found himself homeless and compelled to sleep in his car following the lapse of his recording contract with Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).
In an interview with Beat 99.9 FM, Skales recounted the tumultuous period that ensued after EME chose not to renew his recording deal.
“When I left EME, I had nothing. Everything just ended in one day. I went from enjoying a luxurious life to sleeping in the car,” Skales shared candidly during the interview.
“I didn’t have any promo money, nothing. I just uploaded it on Soundcloud. And it was just a wildfire. It was crazy. I didn’t even know the song was big. I believed, but I gave up because I was trying to japa [relocate abroad]. Then I got a call from Harry Tee, God rest his soul. That was how my life changed,” Skales recounted.
