Nigerian music sensation Rema has done it again! The talented artist has made a giant stride in his career by entering the Guinness Book of Records.
Rema has been gaining international recognition since his hit single ‘Calm Down’ was released. His collaboration with Selena Gomez on the remix of the track catapulted him to global stardom, and he has since appeared in charts all over the world.
Rema has made history by becoming the first artist to top the inaugural Middle Eastern and North Africa (MENA) chart with his single ‘Calm Down’. The song was released in February 2022, ahead of his debut album ‘Raves & Roses’, and has become one of the biggest Afrobeats exports in history.
This isn’t the first time ‘Calm Down’ has set records, either. Earlier this year, it topped the Indian Music Industry Chart, and it also holds the title of the highest charting African song on the Billboard Hot 100, with a number 6 entry.
Rema’s success hasn’t gone unnoticed in Europe, either. The ‘Calm Down’ remix has received multiple plaques across the continent, including a Diamond plaque in France and plaques in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Spain. The song has also earned platinum plaques in both the US and the UK.
In Nigeria, ‘Calm Down’ has broken records as the most viewed Afrobeats song on YouTube, with over 2 billion streams across all platforms.
