Nigerian dancehall sensation, Michael Adebayo Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, recently parted ways with Jonzing World, a record label owned by D’Prince.
Ruger took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the reason for his departure, hinting that the label became complacent due to the money they were making from him. He also stated that the label was not transparent, using his funds to finance new artists.
However, he doesn’t fully reveal everything that went on with Jonzing World as he says “Many things to talk about but dem fit go wait for me for Ikoyi link bridge stab me wotowoto”.
Ruger announced the launch of his record label, Blown Boy Entertainment, on February 6th, 2024. He expressed his gratitude to Jonzing World for bringing him to the limelight but also declared that he was “gonna get cocky” about his achievements with his new label, including securing performances at big festivals and touring Europe and Canada.
In 2021, Ruger was signed into Jonzing World, and gained immense popularity with his hit song ‘Bounce’, earning several awards including AFRIMA’s ‘Best Newcomer Artist’ and Soundcity’s MVP awards ‘Best New Artiste’.
