These are troubling times for Osun state góvernor Rauf Aregbesola. Having been unable to pay salaries of civil servants since late last year, Aregbesola has come under scrutiny especially following his reelection.
The Nigerian Labour Congress directed workers to resume their strike action barely a day after the strike action was suspended. After signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the government, the NLC claims that the government attempted to deceive workers into resuming their duties.
Osun state government has paid some classes of workers but senior civil servants have only received half of their salaries. It is unclear when the current strike action will be called off.
