An audio recording, purported to be a conversation between former PDP governorship aspirant and former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro as well as Ekiti state governor Ayo Fayose has caused a stir among many.
The audio recording which was put up by Sahara reporters, was reportedly made by Captain Sagir Koli of the 32nd Artillery Brigade who was present at a meeting with Ayo Fayose, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate; Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, one time Minister of State for Defence; Senator Iyiola Omisore; Caleb Olubolade, the Minister for Police Affairs and Brigadier General Aliyu Momoh.
The incriminating audio clip records Ayo Fayose as well as Musiliu Obanikoro ordering General Momoh on how to ensure a successful rigging of the Ekiti elections which Ayo Fayose eventually won.
Musiliu Obanikoro has responded to the publishing of the audio clip with a press release; “Our attention has been drawn to an audio recording released on Thursday by Sahara Reporters, an online news website. In the audio recording, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is presented as having a conversation alongside current Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, Senator Iyiola Omisore amongst other names purportedly identified by Sahara Reporters as participants in the said meeting”
