Eminem is still as good as they get, widely touted to leave the Rap game as one of the greatest ever to breathe air into the Mic, he drops yet another cracking single with Australian Songbird, Sia.

He rounded off a joint tour with Rihanna only last weekend, and in a flash, put out the new material “Guts Over Fear”. The song ever first reached our ears from a trailer for Denzel Washington’s soon-to-be-released movie, “The Equalizer”.

Eminem is a story teller and Guts Over Fear is nothing far apart from usual. It is a personal story, as always, which resonates in many different forms, especially with the Sia factor. He takes us back with a mention of “My Name Is”, a song from way back in his early career days.

He tells us how things seem to be coming to a close, and how inspite of that he isn’t starting over. He has the usual dogged, raw persona. It is razor-sharp as he raps. He hits the media, saying “Ever since I came along/ [I] started thinking my name was fall/ Cause anytime things went wrong/ I was the one they would blame it on/ The media made me the equivalent of a modern-day Genghis Kahn… Had to change my style, they said I’m way Sia is stellar on the chorus. A super songbird, she carries the song into great heights, nailing every joint that holds it, killing the delivery like a SWAT Pro. She seems to be making a bold statement seeing as Rihanna was the last female to serve this sort of juice with which we digested Shady’s chocolate bars. Sia sure has us listening now, especially after she blazed through “Chandelier”, a song which again had us thinking Rihanna had scored another Pop. But regardless of the tough exterior, Eminem is only human and the criticisms get to him at some point, as he shows in the lines: “Do I really belong in this game? I pondered/ I just wanna play my part, should I make waves or not?/ So back and forth in my brain the tug Guts Over Fear is good, but it is basically nothing new for all those familiar with the Eminem narratives. The lines are quite crisp, but don’t grab much shine because Shady isn’t addressing anything he hasn’t before. We should give him kudos though, as he has had his fair share of obstacles, some of which he was purely responsible for, and most of which he surmounted. He keeps rising from the ashes like a phoenix, he stays being a veteran, a soldier, a Marshal, and no matter how many records sold, trophies and conquests in his Rap sojourn; his attitude tells

Rate this song, a Hit or a Miss?

My Ol’ Man, he says to me, nobody knows nobody. What goes around comes around like a hula-hoop. I stayed close to the heat, and even when I was close to defeat, I rose to my feet. Music. Soccer. Barbecue. Beer. And Music!
