Women are incredibly important figures in our society and a day is not enough to celebrate the roles they play.
Nevertheless, March 8 every year has been set aside to celebrate the resilience of women all over the world.
OloriSupergal has compiled a list of 24 phenomenal women we absolutely love and appreciate in no particular order:
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala
Okonjo-Iweala is the director general of the World Trade Organization and was once the first female minister of Finance in Nigeria from 2003 – 2006 and 2011 -2015.

Anita ‘Realwarripikin’ Asuoha is a comedienne, dancer, On-Air personality, actress, and MC. A real-life phoenix who has thrived and survived in an industry mostly dominated by men. Happy International Women’s Day!
Hilda Baci
Hilda Baci is a chef, restaurateur, host, and actress. She won the Jollof Faceoff competition in August 2021. In May 2023, Hilda broke the Guinness World Record for longest cooking time with a record time of 93 hours, 11 minutes. Happy International Women’s Day!
Claire Idera-Nnani
Claire Idera-Nnani is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, art and fashion educator. Based in Lagos, Nigeria, Claire Idera-Nnani founded the fashion brand, Cladini, and the first illustration and design workshop in Lagos, CI Workshop.
Bisola Aiyeola
Bisola Aiyeola is an actor, producer, singer, reality TV star, voice-over artist, and TV/radio personality. She competed on the Big Brother Naija reality show in 2017, finishing as the first runner-up. Aiyeola won the Trailblazer Award at the 2018 edition of the prestigious Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. Happy International Women’s Day!

Oluwatosi Olaseinde is a FinTech guru, businesswoman, CEO, and founder of Money Africa. Money Africa, is a financial literacy platform which she founded in 2018, in Lagos State, Nigeria. The company has educated over 500,000 people on financial literacy.
Director Pink
Praise Onyeagwalam better known as Director Pink, is a music video director, cinematographer, and film director. Some music videos directed by Pink include Running to You by Chike featuring Simi, Egwu by Chike featuring Mohbad, among others. She won the AFRIMMA Awards for Best Video Director in 2023.
Belinda Ajoke Disu
Belinda Disu is a prominent figure in the corporate world, serving as the Executive Vice-chairman of Globacom, a major telecommunications company in Nigeria.
She is also the CEO of Cobblestone Properties & Estate, Chairman of Abumet, Non – non-executive director of Julius Berger Nigeria PLC. Happy International Women’s Day!

Genoveva Umeh is one of the fast-rising faces in the Nigerian movie Industry. Genoveva has starred in a couple of movies and series like; Blood sisters, Far Away From Home, A tribe called Judah, Breath of Life, and many more.
Aisha Somtochukwu Yesufu
Aisha Yesufu is a Nigerian Businesswoman and activist. > Derah Gloria: She was a co-founder of the #BringBackOurGirls campaign, which raised awareness of the terrorist organisation Boko Haram’s kidnapping of more than 200 girls from a secondary school in Chibok, Nigeria. Additionally, she has played a significant role in the End SARS campaign against police brutality in Nigeria.

Chiamaka Nnadozie is a 23 year old Nigerian footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Paris FC in the French Division 1 Féminine and the Nigeria women’s national football team. She has been regarded as the best female goalkeeper in Africa and one of the best in the world.

Angelica Nwandu is the creator of the Shade Room (TSR), an Instagram-based media outlet that specialises in celebrity rumours and news. Over 20 million people have subscribed to The Shade Room on all platforms.
Hauwa Lawal
Hauwa Lawal is a young Nigerian content creator who writes and creates humorous but relatable content. She won the future awards prize for Creativity and Innovation, 2023. She is the author “Hauwa’s Mad House” comic book, and has written scripts for some of your favourite influencers like Mr Macaroni and Aproko Doctor.
Sharon Ooja
Sharon Ooja is a renowned actress known for her roles in popular movies like “From Lagos with Love,” “Moms at War,” and “King of Boys”. Ooja is also a passionate advocate for the education and empowerment of underprivileged girls. She received a Special Recognition Award at the Eko Star Film and TV Awards in March 2021.

Nse Ikpe-Etim is a Nigerian multiple award-winning actress. In 2024 alone, Nse has graced our screens with leading roles in Netflix’s “A Sunday Affair” and “Shanty Town,” as well as AFRIFF’s official selection “A Song From The Dark.”
Ikpe-Etim became the first Nigerian to win Best Actress in a Leading Role at the African Movie Academy Awards for “4-4-44”.
Funke Akindele
OluFunke Ayotunde Akindele is a multi-talented individual known for her roles as a filmmaker, actress, director, producer, and politician. Her breakthrough came in 2008 with the series “Jenifa,” This series earned her the Best Actress in a Comedy award at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards in 2016 and 2017. Akindele now stands as the producer and director of Nollywood’s highest-grossing movies: “Battle on Buka Street”, “Omo Ghetto: The Saga’, and ” A Tribe Called Judah’.
Tiwa Savage
Tiwatope Savage is a powerhouse in Africa’s music and entertainment scene. In November 2018, she made history by winning the Best African Act at the MTV European Music Awards, becoming the first female to receive this honor. That same year, Tiwa became the first African woman to sell out London’s O2 arena.
