Renowned singer Stanley Omah Didia, famously known as Omah Lay, recently shared insights into his spiritual journey, revealing that he contemplated embracing Islam despite being born into a Christian household.
In an interview with media personality Wunmi Bello that gained significant attention on Thursday, Omah Lay expressed, “Upon attaining financial success, I underwent a transformation; I shifted my focus towards believing in God and embracing a more humanistic approach, distancing myself from rigid religious practices. I no longer find joy in following a specific religion.”
He delved into his upbringing within a Christian family and his extensive involvement in the church, noting that he once considered converting to Islam but eventually adopted a more personal and direct connection with God, one that transcends religious dogma.
Omah Lay emphasized the importance of his direct relationship with God over strict adherence to religious doctrines, stating, “I was raised in a Christian home and spent a significant amount of time in the church. At one point, I contemplated converting to Islam. However, I’ve now reached a point where it’s just between me and God, not bound by any particular religious framework. My struggle lies in the fact that I lack evidence regarding these sacred texts and the origin of their teachings. While the scriptures of various religions ring true, I cannot find concrete proof that they were authored by God or divine beings.”
He further expressed his belief that there must be a higher power orchestrating the universe, saying, “I know there is something greater than us in control of this existence. I believe in God, even though I don’t possess undeniable evidence. It’s my personal connection and faith that guide me.”
